Modern cars, especially those in the mid-to-high range, already come with a certain number of pre-installed infotainment-related devices to ensure good in-car acoustics. But if you're still looking for a more pure sound, taking your car's audio system to the next level definitely requires the addition of a quality car subwoofer. Music is great company when you're driving, and with auna car sound systems you'll be able to enjoy warm, immersive sound even when you're on the move, without sacrificing space in your car. auna car speakers provide excellent sound on all your journeys: in our product gallery, you can find affordable high-performance car speakers, subwoofers, all with an attractive design and small footprint. Find out which setup is best suited to your needs, and how our range of car speakers can deliver crystal-clear, distortion-free sound in your car interior at all times.
Our car speakers’ intelligent design allows you to tailor each model to your style: whether you prefer LED lighting, strong colours or inconspicuous black, in our webshop you can find car speakers to suit all tastes. All this auditory pleasure doesn't even require any major changes to your system configuration: even using the same car radio, adding just a small car subwoofer will make a huge difference and provide you with high-level sound, with an impressive punch on bass frequencies.
Buying a car subwoofer: what to consider?
For a top-notch musical experience when you are on the move, volume alone is not the only thing that matters. The sound level is actually less important than making full use of all the frequencies in the sound spectrum. This means that a car subwoofer takes on great importance, as a bass box in your car will allow you to coax the optimal sound out of every song. If you want to completely overhaul the sound in your car, you could buy an entire car speaker set, or just a car subwoofer from our store, which will immediately upgrade your existing system and make it sound completely different.
Our subwoofers are easy to install, as they fit well into the spare wheel recess or under the seat. The subwoofer is easy to install, and you can opt for a model with a box to be placed in the boot, an under-seat car subwoofer to be placed in the passenger compartment or a model to be placed in the rear floor. Regardless of where the car subwoofer will be installed, you can distinguish between two categories:
- Active car subwoofer: an amplified car subwoofer has a built-in amplifier to process the incoming signal, and its power is calibrated to the actual capacity of your already installed car speakers. This is an advantage, since you avoid straining the speaker and damaging it by sending too much power, and consequently its durability will be guaranteed. Since the amplification system is already included, the price of an active subwoofer is higher than other car sub models, but this solution is also easier to install, and does not require much knowledge of electronics; you only need to connect the device to the sound source - car stereo, mp3 player, etc. - and the power supply to start using it.
- Passive car subwoofer: this solution is designed for more experienced listeners who know exactly what they want from their car speakers and aim to precisely sculpt the sound output. Unlike an amplified car subwoofer, a passive sub does not have an amplification system, and will therefore need to be driven by a dedicated car amplifier, whose choice will affect the overall performance . It is definitely a good idea to have a technician assist with installation, to avoid making mistakes that can damage the car audio system.
Here are some of the most important things you should look out for when buying a car subwoofer:
Power | Sensitivity |
The more powerful a car subwoofer is, the louder, cleaner and deeper the bass sound will be. If you're looking for explosive, pounding bass, go for devices with lots of watts of power; if you just want a better car stereo system than you have, with slightly deeper bass, you don't need to spend a lot of money on powerful woofers as low-powered ones (even 15 watts) will do. Pay attention to the RMS rating of the devices first; then and only then check the peak power. However, when you read about 2000 or 3000 watts, these figures refer to the maximum output power, which in itself is misleading as it indicates the total energy the sub consumes, not the power it is capable of generating. | Besides power, sensitivity is one of the most important things you should look at when buying a subwoofer. The higher the sensitivity level, the less power is needed to produce quality sound. For example, a car subwoofer with a higher sensitivity range will use less power to get the same amount of sound as a model with a lower sensitivity level. So if you have a powerful amplified system, it’s recommended to choose a sub with high sensitivity. |
Frequency response | Impedance |
The greater the frequency range of a subwoofer, the better it will reproduce both treble and bass sequences, regardless of the music you listen to. So, if possible, choose subwoofers with higher frequency responses as this determines how 'low' a sound can be produced. Keep in mind, however, that frequency response is only part of the puzzle: many other things, including the type of enclosure the sub is housed in, affect performance. | Impedance gives you a way to measure compatibility with other components in your system. It is measured in ohms (Ω) and indicates the resistance of the subwoofer to the passage of electrical current that is translated into sound. That is, the higher the resistance, the clearer the sound, but the lower the maximum volume. This should be taken into account when connecting the subwoofer to the amplifier because the two must be compatible. In most cases the subwoofer has an impedance of 2 or 4 ohms. |
Voice Coils | Materials |
If you're new to the world of car subwoofers, single voice coil subs are a good choice. They're easy to install and are usually cheaper than dual voice coils, being smaller while still offering great bass sound. However, if you really want to upgrade your car audio system or you're simply an audio enthusiast, choose dual voice coil subwoofers with powerful magnets as they provide better quality sound overall. | Unlike other devices, the material used to build the speaker is very important not only to ensure its durability but also to determine the quality of reproduction. The most commonly used material is medium-density wood fibreboard (MDF), which combines excellent strength with good sound quality. Other materials that can be used are wood, die-cast aluminium and special glass fibres. |
auna car speaker boxes: easy to install and tuck away
Not only are auna car speaker sets a great addition to your car: they can also be the real star of the show. Our car speaker boxes can be easily installed in your driver's cabin and will be barely visible in your car while you enjoy the full listening experience. This is the case with simple stereo speaker boxes, but just as equally with up to twelve speaker boxes and an additional car subwoofer. This will leave you virtually surrounded by perfect sound and only needing to connect the music you want. You'll be able to enjoy the sound experience to its fullest and the built-in loudspeakers will provide you with optimal entertainment, even on long journeys. And since the sound will be much richer and you'll be able to hear every nuance of songs or speech better, you won't even have to turn the volume up to its fullest, meaning that you'll still be able to hear the traffic.
