Disposal Instructions
The responsible disposal of old electrical and electronic devices (“WEEE”) and batteries is important to us. As a responsible retailer, Chal-Tec GmbH has met the requirements placed on us under the UK Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulation by being registered as a Member of the WEEECare Producer Compliance Scheme, approved by the Environment Agency.
Please dispose of your old appliances properly. This ensures that waste equipment is recycled fairly and that negative impacts on the environment and human health are avoided.
Take-Back Service
UK WEEE Regulations require distributors of household electrical and electronic equipment (B2C EEE) to provide customers with a free take-back service for their old electricals. Chal-Tec GmbH has met these requirements by offering all customers buying new B2C EEE items free take-back of their old electricals on a like-for-like basis.
You can return your old item to us at the following address:
Chal-Tec Fulfillment GmbH, Member of Berlin Brands Group
Norddeutschlandstr. 3

Each local authority is required under the UK WEEE Regulations to accept household WEEE and small batteries at its recycling facilities. All WEEE and waste batteries must be recycled and must not be placed in any household wheelie bins.
General Rules for Disposal
The following obligations apply to all consumers:
- Every consumer is legally obliged to dispose of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) as well as batteries and accumulators separately from household waste.
- Waste batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed in the old appliance, and lamps that can be removed non-destructively, must be separated before handing over to a collection point.
- Each consumer is responsible for the deletion of personal data on the electrical or electronic device before disposal.
Chal-Tec GmbH encourages all its customers to make note of the crossed-out wheeled-bin symbol below and avoid putting any WEEE in your domestic waste bins or containers.
You can recognise WEEE by the crossed-out wheeled-bin symbol:
Recycling of Lamps and Bulbs
LED bulbs, compact fluorescent lamps, fluorescent tubes and neon lamps should not be disposed of with household waste. Compact fluorescent lamps and fluorescent tubes may contain small amounts of mercury. LEDs do not contain pollutants but should also not be disposed of with household waste.
You can recognise the corresponding products by the following symbol:
These products can be returned to your local recycling centre or a collection point in your area.
Please note: Avoid skin contact in case of damaged lamps. Pick up broken pieces with a damp paper towel or piece of cardboard and wrap tightly for transport. Ventilate the room for approximately 30 minutes.
Batteries Must Not Be Disposed of in Household Waste
The crossed-out garbage can symbol on batteries indicates that used batteries must be collected separately and must not be disposed of with household waste under any circumstances. This is the only way to prevent environmentally harmful substances from entering the environment, and to ensure that valuable raw materials are recovered and returned to the production cycle.
If chemical symbols such as Cd, Hg or Pb appear under the crossed-out dustbin symbol on the battery, this indicates the battery contains dangerous pollutants (Cd = cadmium, Pb = lead, Hg = mercury).
As an end user, you are legally obliged to return used batteries properly. Batteries can be returned free of charge wherever they are sold (e.g. supermarkets, DIY stores). Recycling centres can also take back batteries. You can also return batteries to us by post. You can return used batteries in normal household quantities directly to us from Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 16:00 at the following address:

For safety reasons:
- Lithium batteries and button cells must be secured against short circuits before returning (e.g. by taping the terminals).
- If a battery is contained in an appliance and can be easily removed, it must be removed and disposed of separately from the appliance.
- Never open batteries or battery packs yourself from electrical appliances.
- Store batteries in a cool and dry place.
- Keep batteries out of reach of children.
- Place leaking batteries individually in a transparent plastic bag; take extra care with damaged or swollen rechargeable batteries.
Proper disposal will ensure a properly monitored and controlled recycling process and prevent hazardous substances from leaking out and causing soil and water contamination which could harm wildlife and human health.
Please note that the consumer is responsible for the deletion of personal data on the electrical or electronic device.
UK WEEE Producer Compliance

As a Producer under the UK WEEE Regulations, Chal-Tec GmbH complies with its Producer Obligations by being registered as a Member of the WEEECare Producer Compliance Scheme and holds WEEE Producer Registration Number – WEE/MM1292AA.
The WEEECare Scheme is operated by Wastecare Compliance Plc, registration number 06043169. The Scheme is approved by the Environment Agency, registration number WEE/MP3538PZ/SCH.
