Whether it's a next-generation flat screen to enjoy movies and series at home or a new monitor for the ultimate gaming experience, with a TV stand or a monitor stand by auna you can intelligently optimize space, ensuring the best comfort for use. In this overview we will tell you why an auna TV stand is worth using, and how to choose the best solution for your needs.
TV and monitor stands: what’s the purpose?
A TV stand is an indispensable element for hanging a TV on the wall. It can be fixed or mobile, tilting, rotating, with different sizes and characteristics. To install it you just need to insert some dowels in the wall, and its position can be adjusted according to needs to improve the quality of viewing by viewers.
It is not a difficult task to choose a TV or monitor stand, because their structure is linear and basic, and in the end, there are not many factors to evaluate. Most of them consist of three parts: a plate that goes on the wall, another plate that goes on the back of the TV and two or more central elements that serve to connect the two plates. As it is designed to "hold" the TV, the stand must have a structure that can ensure the stability of the appliance: for this reason, the evaluation must be focused on the quality and reliability of the product, always aiming at the optimal choice.
What are the main kinds of TV stand available?
- The fixed support is suitable for a single viewing position: for example, a TV set to be placed on the wall in front of the sofa in your living area. In this case there are no special positioning requirements and the screen is in a frontal position, so the fixed viewing angle is definitely suitable.
- A swivel stand meets more specific requirements, for example when a natural or artificial light source is located behind the viewer. It is also useful if there are more than one position, for example in the dining room to watch TV while sitting at the table or on the sofa, or to allow viewing from the kitchen in an open space. With the swivel stand, in each of these cases the TV can be oriented according to the position of the viewer, setting the right angle.
- Finally, the tilting TV stand is very useful in situations where space is limited and the viewing angle must be optimised so as not to be uncomfortable. Often used in hotels, this kind of support can be fixed to the wall or even to the ceiling: in this way you can choose to tilt the TV set until the best viewing condition is achieved. An even more versatile solution is the support with dual functionality, swivelling and tilting, which allows you to enjoy the optimal viewing angle from any location.
What do you need to know before buying a TV or monitor stand
Modern flat screens, whether plasma, LCD or LED TVs, or specially designed for use as computer monitors, impress not only with their crisp images but also with their compact design and compact size. Precisely because screens are so flat and light, today you no longer need to place your smart TV or display on a small table, even when it is equipped with a monitor desk mount or a monitor riser: to save space you can easily hang it on the wall, using special wall monitor mount, or even opt for a mobile TV arm, allowing you to orient the screen as you like and watch TV from the sofa or another point in the room.
To purchase a new TV stand you just need to know the size of your screen. With traditional TV stands it's even easier, as the mounts are attached to the back of the TV/monitor. As we will see in the next paragraph, the distance between the screws is standardized, so you can position the screen directly on the wall bracket and tighten the screws easily, without holding any weight. For a table-top TV stand, the procedure is even simpler. The advantage of this type of stand is the easy portability, which allows you to move the lightest flat screens freely.
What's the VESA mounting standard?
Although colloquially known as VESA Mounts, VESA refers to the Video Electronics Standards Association, the association that coordinated the standardization of mounting systems. The flat device mounting interface (FDMI) was created in 1997, but over the years it has been expanded to provide mounting solutions for the marketing of different sizes of flat panel displays. So no matter what panel technology and TV or monitor brand you own, you can securely hang it on the wall using a stand which is compliant with the VESA Mounting Interface Standard (MIS). Simply flip your device upside down to find that there is a hole in the back, so you can attach it to the wall according to the corresponding standard.
How to know if your screen is compatible with the VESA standard?
Simply turn the TV or monitor and look for a rectangular or square section with holes to position the TV stand and attach it to a wall, ceiling, arm or pedestal. The list of VESA partners includes the vast majority of TV and monitor manufacturers; however, there may be brands that did not adhere to this convention, and in this case you can use a VESA adapter for your TV bracket. If your TV or monitor is VESA compatible, you don’t have to worry, as the size of the holes and the distance between them match those of your TV stand.
Manufacturing materials and TV stand capacity
Nowadays it is normal to have at least one large TV set or several TV sets in the house, both as a complement to the living room and the bedrooms; as they can be of considerable size and weight, the manufacturing materials are the first aspect to consider if you want to buy a durable TV stand. In general, steel supports are the most reliable, as this material has a high resistance and durability.
Another very important feature to analyse is the capacity of the support and, likely, this will also have a big impact on its price; if you intend to buy a product with a good value for money, you need to find the right balance. To do this, take into account the size of the TV, as well as its weight, and evaluate it according to the capacity of the stand indicated by the manufacturer. In general, it is recommended to buy a model that can support a couple of kilograms more than the actual weight of your TV or monitor, a detail that you might consider when choosing your model.

If you decide to buy a TV stand, you will enjoy greater flexibility by opting for an extendable or swivel stand. If the wall-mounted TV stand is swivelling, you can swing the viewing angle between the sofa and the armchair and thus enjoy the best possible picture regardless of your position. The extent to which the TV swings depends essentially on its size: larger screens have a smaller angle of inclination as the corners of the screen block movement beyond a certain degree. If the TV wall mount is extendable, you can also vary the swivel radius to the wall, thus enjoying maximum flexibility.
An adjustable monitor stand or auna's TV arm even allows you to work freely and ergonomically at your desk; a raised and swivelling monitor allows you to look at the display without having to lift your neck, with enormous benefits in terms of correct posture. This is crucial both for players who use multi-screen workstations and for those spending a lot of time at the desk. A double monitor stand is a perfect and flexible choice for hours of relaxed work. No matter how you work, play games or watch TV; with an auna TV stand, you can enjoy all your content from a completely new perspective.
